JAKE CHENG
Jake is a national finalist, eastern division winner and two-time New Jersey winner of the
MTNA Senior Duet Performance competition, the country’s most prestigious student music competition.
Under Dr. Lam's guidance Jake has additionally won first prizes and honors in the Cecilian Young
Artist Competition, the Crescent Concerts Showcase for Exceptional Young Artists, the Crescendo
International Music International, the National League of Performing Arts’ National Young Musician
Showcase competition, the International Performing Arts Cultural Troupe Young Artists Competition,
the Music Educators Association Young Artist and the National League of Performing Arts’ Chamber
Music and Ensemble competitions. Those recognitions gave him opportunities to perform in the
tri-state's best concert halls, including Carnegie Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center,
the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Mayo Performing Arts Center, the DiMenna Center for
Classical Music, the Grace Rainey Rodgers Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Drew
University as well as to travel around the country to compete in the division and national rounds
of the MTNA.
Jake was a student of Dr. Lam for 13 years, and is a rising senior at The College Of
New Jersey concentrating in Economics.
