JEFFREY KOC


Jeffrey, studying atmospheric sciences as a prospective freshman at New York University, is a piano student of Dr. Julia Lam since he was eight. He was a National Finalist competing in the Senior Piano Duet division of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Conference at Baltimore in 2017, after winning the State and Eastern Division levels of the MTNA competition. Last year, he was an alternate in the Eastern Division (comprised of thirteen states) senior piano duet competition of the Music Teachers National Association held in West Virginia. Other prizes include winning first place in both solo and duet in the Music Educators Association Young Pianists Competition, Cecilian Club Music Piano Competition, National League Performing Arts Young Musician Showcase Competition and Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, Crescendo International Music Competition, Performing Arts Cultural Troupe Young Artists Competition.

Jeffrey has performed in Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, Carnegie Weil Recital Hall in NYC, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Hilbert Circle Theatre, and the Nicholas Music Center. He has performed in master class given by Dmitry Rachmanov, Alessio Bax, Dallas Weekley and Nancy Arganbright. Other music activities include serving as the pianist for the Children’s Choir at the Rutgers Community Christian Church; playing in the "Children Helping Children Fundraising Performathon for Ronald McDonald House Charities from 2014-17; and his performances as a 3rd-chair violist in the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Symphony Orchestra, Pantera Orchestra and Young Players Philharmonic Orchestra. While Jeffrey does not plan to study music in college, music will always play a big part in his life.
