TIFFANY LIN

I like to think that music has been a part of me since I was in the womb. M older sister had played the piano and cello and by the time I was 4 years old, I was begging my mom to sign me up for piano lessons. I was blessed enough to be able to learn under the legend, Dr. Julia Lam, from 2001 to 2013. I decided to take my path to Dr. Lam’s alma mater, Michigan State University, where I received a degree in Hospitality Business. I currently work at The Manor in West Orange as a Special Events Coordinator. Piano was my first love and you never forget your first love. Although my career has nothing to do with piano, it will always hold a special place in my heart and in my life. Thirteen whole years of countless lessons, competitions, and theory classes, along with many memories filled with compassion, laughter, and of course frustrations. Looking back, I may have taken it all for granted at some times, but every day I find myself reminiscing on those times and how piano and Dr. Lam have affected my life. With life’s constant battles and challenges, I find I’m most at peace when I’m sitting in front of my piano. I have found that pouring my heart out through piano and music is the best cure for whatever comes my way, whether it’s joy or aggravations. It has taught me that practice DOES make perfect; an important discipline that should be adapted early in one’s life. No matter what, music and piano is something I can always rely on because it’s always going to be a part of my world.
