JASMINE MEYER
Jasmine Meyer has been studying piano since age 5. Currently, she studies under Dr.
Sylvia Wang of the Bienen School of Music, continuing her musical studies as a Computer
Science - Piano Performance dual degree student at Northwestern University in Evanston,
Illinois.
Jasmine’s passion for music has only grown with time, inspiring her to reach greater and
greater heights. Her accolades include second-time winner of the Eastern Division in the
Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), first place in duet in the New Jersey Music
Teacher Association’s (NJMTA) piano competition, and NJMTA’s high school scholarship
alternate. Her other piano accomplishments include winning Honorable Mention at the
MTNA State Competition solo piano, second place of the NJMTA Young Musicians
Competition, Gold Winner of the NLPA Chamber Music Competition, First Place Winner
of the MEA Piano Duet Competition and second place in solo, winner of the Bookstaber
Scholarship Competition and was featured in the Crescent Concerts Showcase for
Exceptional Young Artists. She has performed at masterclasses given by John Perry,
Douglas Humphrey and Ingrid Clarfield and has twice been awarded the Mayo Performing
Arts Center's Student of the Month award. She has performed at Weill and Zankel Hall of
Carnegie Hall, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Steinway Hall, the Dimenna Center
and the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
Jasmine is also an accomplished accompanist and chamber musician, volunteering at Sheil
Catholic Center in Evanston weekly as a piano accompanist and cantor, regularly
accompanying other local musicians, and performing in chamber ensembles with her peers
at Bienen. She has also won the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards’ Gold Key for
Excellence in Personal Essay/Memoir and their Silver Key for Excellence in Poetry. In her
free time, Jasmine enjoys cooking and eating East Asian cuisine, listening to rock music,
and teaching herself new languages.
